Why bodywork?
Bodywork sessions can be seen as learning something new and unlearning something, which is not relevant any longer. By focusing attention and touch, blockages in the body are stopped thus allowing the body to use its own resources again. Bodywork is intended to increase your well-being, your body perception, and your quality of life. The basic idea is that the body becomes healthy by utilizing what we already have within ourselves.
For which topics or physical issues is bodywork suitable?
- Improvement of breathing, digestion, and sleep quality
- Silencing the mind, more clarity
- Increasing the energy level
- Dealing with recurrent pain, tension (e.g. back, neck, and shoulder pain, migraine)
- Recognition and termination of habitual behaviors that stand in the way of personal development
- Another, self-determined dealing with fear and pain
- Dealing with anger and frustration etc.
Bodywork is not suitable for persons undergoing psychotherapeutic treatment, taking heavy painkillers or mind-expanding substances.
Bodywork does not replace any medical treatment. It is a learning method that teaches with and through the body. It makes no claim to be a healing method, an alternative medicine or massage therapy, or to belong to the medical professions. If in doubt, consult with your treating physician before a process (several consecutive sessions) or after a trial session.
How does a bodywork session work?
At the beginning of each session, we briefly discuss the topic and objective of the session and what progress has been made since the previous session. In the first session, this conversation is more detailed and is completed by a foot analysis. Afterward, we work on your body for about 40 minutes, usually while you are lying on a massage table. This is done with touch, movement, and verbal guidance. During a final resting phase, you will have the opportunity to let the experienced work sit and learn to integrate it.
Why is breathing so central in bodywork?
Most of us, of course, know how to breathe in order to survive, but we have never learned to breathe in order to blossom properly. Many of us breathe shallowly. The result is that we take in too little oxygen, so our bodies cannot develop their full potential. Like meditation, bodywork uses breathing to focus attention on your own body and the immediate moment, allowing a different approach to pain.
How long does a bodywork session last?
Please allow 60 minutes. The first session, 90 minutes. Here we take time to define a topic for the sessions together.
How often do sessions take place and how many do I need?
To integrate what you have learned into your life, I recommend one session per week. As with any successful collaboration, the process (several, consecutive sessions) ends when you have reached your personal goal(s).
